Upload Straight From Your Camera Roll. We Handle the Rest
Photo upload on your free actor website now accepts whatever you have and sorts it out on the way in. A 40 megapixel file from your photographer, a HEIC straight off an iPhone, a screenshot: all fine.
What we do to your upload
- Convert the format. HEIC, HEIF, TIFF and PNG all become web-ready files. Your original is kept.
- Fix the rotation. Photos that arrive sideways because of the orientation flag in the file are corrected. This was easily the most reported problem with the old uploader.
- Generate every size the site needs. Thumbnail, gallery, lightbox, social card. You upload once.
- Strip location data. Photos taken on a phone often carry the coordinates of where they were taken. That is your home address on a self-tape still. We remove it.
That last one is worth a paragraph
Location metadata is invisible, travels with the file, and is trivial to read. Actors post images taken at home more than most people do, and nobody thinks about it because there is nothing on the screen to think about. We now strip it from every upload, and we did the same to the images already on the platform.
Copyright and creator fields are preserved, because those are the ones your photographer wants kept.
What still needs a human
Cropping for composition. We can crop to fit a space and we will keep your face in frame, but we cannot know that you want the shot tighter or that the version with the other expression is the better one. If a specific crop matters, crop before uploading.
Do not pre-compress
The single most common way to end up with a soft headshot is to run it through a compression tool first "to make the site faster". We are going to re-encode it, and re-encoding an already-degraded file preserves the degradation. Upload the largest, cleanest version you have. The site's speed comes from how we deliver it, not from how small the file was when it arrived.
