it's such a difficult thing for an actor to play a really good villain. To me, the best villains are never too on the nose, they always find an interesting side of the character to tap into that clearly wasn't on the page without them. My favorites would probably be Heath Ledger as Joker, Javier Bardem in No Country fo…

Hey friends! I have some Zoom auditions coming up, and I don't have a laptop, and I find using my smartphone for auditions unreliable. I have a Desktop computer that is directly connected to my modem and would make me feel much more comfortable using for auditions. For other actors auditioning on Zoom on your desktops…

Hello! I’m an actor studying theatre in university and I’ve just started the rehearsal process for a show that will be performed entirely over Zoom. I’ve never done -or watched- an online show that was more than just a one-time script read so I was wondering how many people would actually watch a live show on Zoom? No…

Hi, I have come across a problem that is weighing on me a lot and making me feel sick. Ever since I can remember, I’ve always wanted to be an actor. There have been things that I have as realistic goals, but the thing that always put butterfly’s in my stomach when I talked about it was acting. Recently, I have been thi…

Hi everyone, I was working with the producer who is going to be creating my demo today, and he mentioned that he wanted to try my voice with narration as well (I’ve been working towards a commercial demo in mind, this was a surprising new venture for me to attempt). To those with narration experience, what is different…

Hi, I’m a 17 year old senior in high school. College applications are coming up and I’m basically at that point where you have to make pretty big decisions about the future and everyone’s asking you what you want to do. When I was 14, I thought about being an actress, but I didn’t really start acting until about a year…

The artist is the creator of beautiful things. To reveal art and conceal the artist is art’s aim. The critic is he who can translate into another manner or a new material his impression of beautiful things. The highest as the lowest form of criti- cism is a mode of autobiography. Those who find ugly meanings in beautif…

Hey r/acting! I need your help! My partner hasn’t been telling me about her auditions - she explained the likelihood of getting a role was super low and that most actors/actresses don’t tell their partners about their auditions b/c they often feel pitied/patronised etc. I get it and have told her she can tell me whatev…

I'm an actor based out of Texas and am looking to expand to other markets. Currently, I have an agent in Austin and one in Houston. Just a question out of curiosity: if a production (especially a TV show since it's episode-by-episode rather than one film that's mapped out from the beginning) requires nudity but it's not told to the actors upfront either before or during the audition process, is the actor who booked the part allowed to change someth…

I understand for single cam - you have the night before, you have time in your trailer, you have the time while they're setting up lighting, to learn just 1 or 2 scenes a day.
