Hello fellow actors, Happy new year to you all! My question here is about joining an agency. I'm wondering what I would need to tell them and what they might be looking for in order to make them want to work with me?

I'm not a voice actor, but I do voice over some narration for videos I make. I find however that I have very little longevity with my voice, and it gets pretty hoarse after a mere couple minutes. It also doesn't help that I start losing my breath as well, so when I speak longer sentences, it causes more strain, hence e…

I moved to Atlanta recently for career and family reasons (and because honestly I lived in LA for almost a decade and never felt at home the way I did in Atlanta). Anyway, while I’ve been researching their client lists on IMDB Pro, I’m wondering if anyone had any personal or second-hand experience (good or bad) with th…

Hello, Does anyone know where I can get a sample acting cover letter? I have no experience out side of plays that I did in high school and a web series that I was on a year or two ago. I'm really trying to buckle down and become a working actor. Thanks!

Who has done voice over/voice acting work before? I’d love to get into it and I’ve always been told I’d be good at it. I have a good USB mic (Blue Yeti) and a pop filter, now I just need to put them to good use. Any tips or stories...

I'm in my late 50s. I want to be an actor. I've always wanted to be an actor, I just never admitted it to myself. After reading one article I see that acting can really improve my personal, as well as professional life! When I stop to think about this I realize that for better or for worse, I have always been an actor!…

Heya fellow actors of reddit: I hate that I have to make this post, I just really wanna pick all your brains. I am auditioning for Our Town with Emily in mind - and I want to find a monologue that fits the sort of life-nostalgic, reflective nature toward the end of the show. I have a couple monologues in mind…

My mother used to tell me I should take acting classes. That was years ago. Now I'm in my late 50s, she is gone, and I want to be an actor so bad! I did have one very short acting role for an eLearning video. I did not speak. I did great! People loved it. But that was back in 2005. As I study acting online, it's occurr…

I've been trying to find auditions to build up my resume and earn some extra cash, and I keep getting directed towards [Backstage.com](https://Backstage.com). I hear it's legit, but with the monthly fee and the amount of people scamming amateur actors these days, you can never be too careful.

How does housing work when for example, you're an NYC based actor, and you go to do a play or musical in say, Chicago or LA for a short time and then maybe it gets transferred to Broadway. Is housing covered somehow? I mean, you still have pay rent for the place where you're based in, right? I've been thinking about th…

Basically, like many others I’m sure, Ive always wanted to be an actor and be in movies, shows, short films, etc. Not for the fame but rather a sense of an experience and passion. I live in the worst possible place for having this dream because there are no well known actors (that I know of) that are successful actors.…

In television and film, is it possible for an actor to have roles as a male and female? What I mean is that I myself am a girl, but when I dress a certain way and especially when I wear a binder (flattens my chest), it is very easy for me to be mistaken as a male. Many people have told me they thought I was a guy and t…

I'm really wanting to begin drama school in Fall 2020, and I want to understand the differences in training between the MFA route and a conservatory. I understand that getting an MFA would make me eligible to teach, which I suppose I'd be open to, but my interests really are in becoming a professional actor. So, how is…

OPINION: If you're a client looking for work here and are going to spend less than $100 on your voice-over, I expect some kind of escrow or self-executing contract that ensures I am paid upon completion. I realized something after years of working on projects and pulling the best out of people that there is one thing that remains constant. You have to want to be better and let your actions show. I'm creating an independent animated series as a hobby and expect it to take a loooong time to make.
